Lejaim

...
Hoy aprendí lo que significa Lejaim(www.judaicasite.com)

" ...cada vez que recitamos KIDUSH y alzamos un vaso de vino, incluímos la frase: "Sabri Maranán" y respondemos "Lejaim"

Cuando el "Bet Dín" (Tribunal Supremo) finalizaba de indagar a los testigos de un juicio y verificaba la veracidad de sus testimonios, les decía: ¿"Sabrí maranán"?, ¿están seguros señores? (de la inocencia o culpabilidad del acusado). A lo que los testigos respondían: lejaim (para la vida), si el acusado era inocente o lamavet (para la muerte), si era culpable.

En este último caso, se le hacía beber al condenado a muerte un vaso de vino, para reducir su sufrimiento. En todo KIDUSH, tenemos siempre en frente nuestro un vaso de vino y cuando escuchamos las palabras "sabri maranán", respondemos "lejaim", indicando que este vaso de vino sea para la vida.
